Christian and Melissa

Christian & Melissa
(June 9, 2007)

"Thanks again Kate!"

"There are some people out there who do what they do because they are very good at it, and then there are some people who do what they do because they truly love it. Kate happens to have both these qualities! It's very easy to see that with Kate, you are not only getting someone who is very talented at what she is doing, but also has a lot of love and desire to be doing it. Simply put...Kate's the best! My wife and I can't thank her enough for the excellent job she did taking pictures at our wedding. Capturing those moments that we'll be able to cherish forever. I can't recommend Kate highly enough! You will not be disappointed in her at all."

Picturing Communities

I recently participated in William Penn Charter School's 2007 Juried Art Show, entitled "Picturing Communities" I submitted 5 pieces for approval saying that if any of them were accepted and sold in the show that the proceeds would be going to St. Lucia for benefit of their community. Well two of the pieces were accepted, "All in a Days Work" & "Twins". Neither won an awards but when everything was all said and done they both sold. What an amazing Christmas present I was able to give to my friend Sr. Margaret, a Domincan sister in St. Lucia. I spoke with her the other day and she said that the funds will be going to help build a man a house. Some of the money will also be used to put some holiday dinners on tables for families that may not otherwise have one. How amazing life is! Thank you to all that support me and my business and my passion for photography every day...you truly make my job worth getting up in the morning for! Below are the images from the show. Please enjoy! have a great weekend, be safe!

Blessings,
Kate

2007 Masquerade @ Melt Grille

Hello all! This post is about the Masquerade Ball that I covered on "All Hollows Eve" this year. It was a fund raiser to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown held at Melt Grille in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. It was organized and produced by The Fashion District LTD.
To see a slide show with a selection of my photos from the evening. I believe The Fashion District is going to make my photos as well as the other photographers images availible for purchase and donate proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown.

A Weekend in NY

So I was fortunate enough to get to go to NY this weekend for a good friends birthday and photograph around the city. I did what I would consider a lot of "from the hip" shooting and playing around with my 14mm lens, something I have become quite attached to. I love the colors and saturation in this photo. I really like the way I have been seeing light lately too. Unfortunately my day job, a local mall portrait studio does not leave me much room for creativity outside of the fixed lighting scenario. Never the less I thrive in those "outside of the box" situations when I can be consumed by my own work and creativity. I will just about crawl on the ground if it means seeing the photo or the angle just a bit differently. I have a few more crazy photo sessions coming up in the near future which should allow me quite a bit of versatility to let my mind explore and see what new ideas I can come up with and push the envelope with. I have still been working on the "trash the dress" idea. However, Christmas and children's portraits have put that on a bit of a hault as well. But I will be sure to keep you updated! Stay well and be blessed!

A Long Weekend

So after a crazy "weekend warrior" weekend as some of my friends like call us wedding photographers. I feel some what revialized with my wedding work...knowing everytime I get out and shoot another one I learn something new. I learned more about my 14mm wide angle lense and the limits that I can push it to. I learned to see my own style and how to slow down what I see happening around me. I don't nessecarily have to pose anything but I do have to ask for things to happen again...or to keep looking one way or don't move away just because you think you are in my way. People don't realize that I am composing the shot around them even if they are out of focus in the foreground to frame what is going on in the background. My friends Jessi and Matt got married this weekend and the above shot is from their wedding. It has been an amazing pleasure getting to work with Jessi and Matt for their "Love Story" shoot, Jessi's Pre-bridals at Lock Ridge Park and they allowed me entray into their special wedding day to capture the day the only way I knew how. To the end of the night. I'm exhausted, today I worked my day job at a portrait studio and went to do a "photo booth" at a wedding for Douglas Benedict http://www.douglasbenedict.com/. An amazing photographer who I have been very grateful to have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to photograph weddings with this year. It has enabled me to stay involved in the wedding industry and even more so in the photography world as a whole. Over all a good weekend...tonight I am going to sleep and rest up for the next round of photos which will hopefully be tomorrow with my best girl Eileen and her puppy dog "Tank"! YAY for Photography! and capturing memories at the speed of light!

Hello to everyone...

So after much debate and some discussion with some of my peers in the photography world, I have decided to take the plunge into the abyss of this world that is called blogging. I figured I needed to start out with a simple image. perhaps because of the way that I am feeling today, or just the way I feel when I look at it. Never the less I felt it appropriate to begin. It is one that leaves much open for discussion and growth both about the image and the world of images and photography as a whole. I hope you find this blog helpful as I was told, to both get to know me and my work. Check back often and comment freely on whatever topics strike your fancy. Thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope no matter how long your stay or how often we meet that you truely enjoy the journey of your own life and I hope that I may have the opportunity to capture just a bit of your spirit in my work if I do have the privilege of ever being able to photograph you or about you. If nothing else and we do not meet I hope you are capitvated and inspired in your own lives to never let a moment slip by undocumented in some way. Your children, and future generations will thank you for your legacy as well. Live, Laugh, and photograph often!
